I am FOR a Scenic St. Petersburg

As a resident or visitor to St. Petersburg, I am AGAINST an ordinance that would allow large electronic signs (or digital billboards) within the city limits.

This ordinance would be bad for the city, because:

These signs are distracting; they take a driver's attention off the road.
These signs would negatively impact the city's image.
The city won't get any revenue from the proposed agreement with the billboard industry.
The city risks opening up our sign ordinance to legal challenges.
Once you allow them, these signs will be here forever. Cities that have allowed digital billboards invariably later try to limit them, only to end up in court.
And MOST IMPORTANTLY, as a resident or visitor to St. Petersburg I don't want them.

Please listen to your residents and visitors, vote down this proposed ordinance change and keep St. Petersburg beautiful.
