Insight Communications 30 Second Skip

In December, 2005, you, Insight Communications, rolled out firmware version 12.22 to their Motorola 6412 Digital Video Recorders. In this rollout, you knowingly took away your customers' right to choose. You disabled the 30 second skip feature in the firmware, making it impossible to jump 30 second ahead in recorded programming that had been paid for by the customer. This feature had previously been disabled on the remote controls but could be reenabled by the customer. 1000's of customers enabled this feature and had it taken away overnight.

We are asking you to reenable this firmware feature. As customers of Insight, we pledge our continued patronage in exchange for the right to skip through programming we've already paid for at a rate that we determine. We contend that we are your primary customers and primary source of revenue, not the advertisers who disapprove of such functionality. As your customers, the undersigned request that you immediately publish a new firmware that reenables the 30 second skip functionality.
