What is child abuse?
Child abuse means physically hurting a child, sexually molesting a child, failing to provide proper care or depriving a child of support and affection.
An estimated 1,100 children died of abuse and neglect that's an average of more than 3 children per day. Most of the children who die are younger than 5 years of age. Of these fatalities, more than 3/4 were under the age of five; 38 percent of the children were under the age of one. More children (age four and younger) die from child abuse and neglect than any other single, leading cause of death for infants and young children.
