Keep Lloyds TSB Jobs in Andover

We the undersigned support the North West Hampshire Liberal Democrat party campaign to keep Lloyds TSB jobs in Andover, as a result of the merger between Lloyds TSB and HBOS.

Andover and the constituency has a large number of employees working in Lloyds TSB back office functions in sites across the town as well as hundreds of people working in supporting businesses.

North West Hants Liberal Democrats have written to Eric Daniels, CEO of Lloyds TSB expressing concern over the comment made by Lloyds TSB when annonucing the Lloyds TSB/HBOS takeover "In addition the management's focus is to keep jobs in Scotland"

This statement has been taken by many to mean that a deal has been done by Gordon Brown to keep back office HBOS jobs in Scotland and save his own skin in advance of the Glenthroes by-election and Brown giving the "green light" to the merger by wavering current competition law. We note the likley trade off between Lloyds TSB and Gordon Brown.

We are concerned that Lloyds TSB/HBOS jobs in England will be lost at the expense of this political jesture.

I support the Liberal Democrats view that it is important that the hundreds of people employed by Lloyds TSB and subsidiaries in Andover are not disadvantaged by undue favouritism to employees in Scotland.

We support through this campaign and this petition to retain Lloyds TSB jobs in Andover.
