As fans of the Broadway Revival of "La Cage Aux Folles", its beautiful music, telling book, and talented performances; We find ourselves asking "why there has been no Broadway Revival Cast Recording?" made of this visually stunning and rousing to listen to score.
We are petitionig because of our utmost respect, admiration, and affection for Jerry Hermans music in this Revival of "La Cage..." and our hope that it is recorded and preserved for many years to come.
We are also petitioning because of a statement made by Joan Finkelstein, the
Manager of Wholesale, Mail Order & Internet Sales at "Clear Channel Entertainment." The statement told to a fan who inquired about a cast recording is as follows: "A revival CD is not in the plan at this time and is decided upon by the producers and cast."
Although it is a pleasure to listen to the original recording of "La Cage...", it is also a let down in many ways. The performances lack the stellar qualities of voices like Gary Beach, Daniel Davis, and Gavin Creel; and frankly it is missing more music from the show than we care to mention. A new and updated cast recording could not only help in preserving the beautiful score and performances, but also help bolster and gain on the already hugely financial success of the La Cage revival.
For fans and newcomers to miss out on a Cast Recording because of whatever reason it has not happened as of yet, would be a true travesty.
