Increasingly, many Los Gatos High School parents are expressing their concerns over issues surrounding high-risk pre and post prom activities, the location of the prom in San Francisco, and the lack of organized transportation for the students. We the undersigned parents ask that the Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District and the Los Gatos High School Administration take the following actions to help make the LGHS Senior Prom a safer event:
o Adopt a district-wide busing policy to school events held more than 20 miles (or outside Santa Clara County) from the school campus.
o Encourage LGHS administration to consider alternate closer locations for the prom in future years and include parents along with class leaders and administration as participants in the event planning.
o Explore ways to facilitate better school-to-parent and parent-to-parent communications. This would include timely information about pre-and post-prom guidelines, so parents may help students in their planning and participation in the prom and other school events.

I have a kindergartener, so I luckily have many years to worry, but if it were my 18 year old, I would definitely not want him/her to go to SF for their prom ... (I remember my own local prom all too well).
