New United Airlines Reserve System

Former Continental FAs have a straight reserve system. You are on reserve every month until your seniority can hold a line. Pro: once off reserve, you are off for good (unless your seniority can no longer hold a line due to transfer, retirements, etc.). Con: given current (non)hiring conditions and the unknowns of workforce integration, it is possible some FAs could be subjected to a decade or more of straight reserve, month after month under the merged operation. This could extend to people with 10+ years of seniority.
I, for one, find neither system very appealing. Luckily, these are NOT THE ONLY OPTIONS AVAILABLE.
I am writing to propose a third, more fair, less painful, alternative that would benefit the VAST MAJORITY of FAs at the new United Airlines.
The basics of my proposal:
1. For the first 3-5 years, all FAs would be subject to straight reserve, unless their seniority could hold a line.
2. The top 10-20\% would be guaranteed to hold a line every month.
3. Everyone else would be required to fly one month of reserve per calendar year. You would be unable to bid vacation and reserve during the same month.
Obviously, this is a general outline which would need further refinement, but I think its principles are sound, fair, and effective. Please sign this petition in support of this more balanced alternative to the onerous systems we currently suffer under, and forward to as many UA/CO FAs as possible.
