This petition is addressed to the President of the United States and Congress of America.
The citizens of the United States of America, in observance of the brave Astronauts who ventured to the Moon, hereby request that a national holiday to be named Exploration Day be set aside as a national day of honor and remembrance for the Astroanuts, their families, and all those who dared to do the impossible.
On July 20, 1969, after a four day trip, the Apollo astronauts arrived at the Moon. Never before have so many lives of different races and creeds been suddenly united as one when a new era of human exploration at 4:18 pm EDT on July 20th came upon us as the first manned flight to the Moon touched down.
We the citizens of the United States of America, by our signatures below, implore that the leaders of this great nation, will set aside July 20th as a national holiday to be observed annually by all Americans and the generations of Americans yet to come, known as Exploration Day, when not only our nation, but nation's around the world, joined together by pledging their support for human exploration on a global scale.
Sincerely,
