Petition To End Kosher Certification Labels And To End The Involvement Of the Federal Food and Drug Administrations Participation

A petition calling to end the "kosher certification" fees from foodstufss and household goods:


To: The nationwide offices of the Federal Food and Drug administration and "Kashrut ceritifiers" in the United States.

We the undersigned call into question the participation of the Food and Drug Administrations part in regard to the issue of kosher labeling on food and products.

While we understand that it everyones right to practice ones religious beliefs, we also feel the F.D.A. should have no dealings with the certification of food and products with such groups for the following reasons:

The separation of church and state

The use of the term org, which is supposed to imply a not for profit group.

We feel these groups of kosher certifiers are nothing more than a way to bilk money out of companies to gain their certifications.

While approximately only 2 percent United States of America (5,800,000) is Jewish, we feel that we, the consumers, and/or manufacturers of foodstuffs and non-edible items, should NOT be subject to this charade and fleecing.

Futhermore, we are taxpayers who have to foot the bill for the involvment which the F.D.A. has in such practices.

These kosher certifiers charge a fee to have a symbol such as a
U or K or P along with other symbols to be placed on products of which we are all WELL aware! This cost is past on to the consumer and we shall not bear it.

To quote one such kosher certifier--- There is no question that some of the dietary laws have some beneficial health effects. For example, the laws regarding kosher slaughter are so sanitary that kosher butchers and slaughterhouses have been exempted from many USDA regulations.

The following websites contain not only lists of kosher certifiers but also applications to do have a product certified! These companies fear boycotts unless they comply with this certification process.

Furthermore, we have the lists of the companies that have complied with what we like to term Kosher Nostra, and intend to boycott these companies.

Companies such as General Mills, General Foods and Proctor and Gamble for starters. We as non-Jews will not be subjugated to this tyranny any longer. We will buy off brands, bulk foods et al--until this matter is resolved. We shall also be contacting the above mentioned companies via petition.
