Petition to RDEK to Rescind Aug 7, 2009 decision regarding Jumbo Glacier Resort Proposal

On August 7, 2009 the RDEK Directors voted 8 to 7 to absolve themselves from making a local land use decision on the proposed Jumbo Glacier Resort and instead have the decision made at the provincial level as to whether or not Jumbo will be granted Resort Municipality status to allow the proposal to continue.
Directors who voted in favour of the motion, brought forward once again by Sparwood Mayor David Wilkes, stated the time for public consultation is over and it is time to make a decision. Unfortunately the publics voice continues to be ignored by our elected representatives. Nearly two decades of polling and surveys by third parties have shown a continuous overwhelming majority against the proposal.
This petition is to rescind the August 7, 2009 decision and bring back local control over a local decision. We would like to see this followed up with a public referendum to decide the fate of the Jumbo valley. Below are the names of people who are in support of the decision being made locally and without provincial government intervention.
