You want the Truth, You cant handle the Truth!
Lafayette area theaters ticket prices are amongst the highest in the state of Indiana. Whats ironic is that their target audiences are students with an average disposable income of barely $20 a week. Those who earn the least pay the most. After a week of hard work the students deserve to unwind, and in a place like Lafayette going to the theater is amongst the most popular forms of amusement. But with prices as preposterous as 8.75$ for each movie ticket, with an added cost for snacks, most students cant afford to go to the theater.
Thus, we the undersigned, as students of Purdue University, ask you to provide a student discount on movie tickets. The reasons for this are as follows:
Student discounts are offered at 71\% of the Goodrich theaters including university towns such as Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The price at Wabash Landing is approximately 28 \% higher than comparable theaters in the Indianapolis area where prices range from a minimum of $6.00 to a max of $6.50 per ticket.
Students have a limited disposable income and a variety of expenses therefore their tight budget may not allow enough money to attend a movie on a regular basis, unless a student discount could be offered.
The price of a movie is highest amongst most of the popular entertainment and recreational activities such as bowling, ice-skating, miniature-golf, night clubs and bars.
Student discounts will provide a major incentive for student to visit the theater more often and an increase in student audience will probably be observed during the weekdays.
By adding discount for students and tracking revenue, marketing can become more focused therefore increases in audience can be recorded.
We believe that these reasons are verification enough to offer a $2 student discount for all those carrying a student ID from an accredited university along with an exemption from sales tax. The discount would allow students and the theaters to benefit from new policy.
