Regulate Migrants Entry to Ludhiana, Punjab

Dear Commissioner:

I write to you to express my concern at the increase in migratory population in Ludhiana city in my homeland Panjab. The unregulated manner in which the migratory population is increasing has created a large number of social, religious, economic, political, health and law and order problems.

If this problem is not redressed in an appropriate manner and within reasonable time, it will lead to a serious problem which will have wide repercussions. I see the problem having similar dimension as the foreigners issue in Assam a few decades ago.

We urge you to take up a fresh initiative and search for a sound solution, which can involve mandatory health check-ups, compulsory knowledge of Panjabi, employment to Panjabis before the employment sector is opened to the migratory population, creation of a database of criminal elements from amongst the migrants and denial of double voting rights.
