Everyone that joins the US Military is a Volunteer. Within the Army, every Enlisted member states an Oath..
I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
This Oath states that they, regardless if the person is a man or a woman, will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.
Nowhere in this Oath does it state that they will only do so if they are male.
Rep. John McHugh, R-N.Y., chairman of the House Armed Services Committee's military personnel subcommittee may insist that very few women would be affected by this change.. He has no known military service so how can he know?
Let him spend 6 Years in the Military of this Country before he helps make Policy!
Women have been given more roles within the military in the last 25 Years. Women have proven themselves even under combat conditions. To support this Amendment to Remove Women from even the few Combat Support roles they now occupy would be a mistake, would set back the advancement of women and strain further the limited Military personnel we have now.
