I call on the California legislature to reauthorize and fund California Health and Safety Code Section 104320, which created the IMPACT Program. By doing this, the Legislature will: (1) SEND a clear message to Californian men - your health does count; (2) ENSURE that uninsured, low income men who have NO employer-based health insurance, DON'T QUALIFY for state or county-funded health insurance programs, CANNOT AFFORD to purchase health insurance and CANNOT PAY for prostate cancer treatment out-of-pocket will have an option to receive life saving treatment; (3) ENSURE that men currently enrolled in IMPACT will continue to receive life saving treatment; and (4) REDUCE the overall cost of prostate cancer to the state, which is approximately $360 million each year.
