To Premier Barry O'Farrell and the government of New South Wales.
Sydney's monorail is a great way to see many of the main attractions in this beautiful city.
We, the undersigned, demand you reverse your ridiculous decision to demolish the Sydney monorail. This quiet, efficient public transport system has served Sydney well for 24 years. It is used by over 4 million passengers per year, both commuters and tourists. It is widely regarded as one of Sydney's 'must-see' tourist attractions. Patronage has been growing since MyMulti ticketing was extended to include the monorail.
Instead of demolishing a Sydney icon, the monorail must be fully integrated into Sydney's public transport fare system and extended to Circular Quay and Kings Cross. Replacing it with antiquated trams that compete with cars in already clogged streets is unacceptable.
