Today (26th January 2011) the Wrexham & Shropshire train service announced that it was to close in two days time.
It is totally unacceptable that an unsubsidised train service that has the best customer satisfaction record is being allowed to shut down with the government doing nothing to attempt to save it.
Something must be done to save this standard-setting railway line - if no private ownership option is available then it should be brought under public ownership immediately and used as the standard bearer for rail services.
