This is an appeal to the DeBartolo Corporation of Youngstown, Ohio to sell the NFL San Francisco 49ers to any interested party. Since gaining ownership of this proud franchise from Edward DeBartolo Jr. Denise DeBartolo York and her husband John York have destroyed the reputation and character of this team and through negligent and willful actions, have depleted the franchise of its best players and coaches. As of the writing of this petition, the San Francisco 49ers have an 0-4 record, and are generally regarded as one of the worst teams in the NFL. As a comparison,less than two seasons ago, this team (one of the league's youngest at the time) made it the the National Football Conference semifinals. Ownership has displayed a repeated penchant to favor the bottomline over the recruitment and retention of quality talent. As a result, the team has in the course of two seasons, been completely depleted of its best players, and generally shunned by quality free agents. We move that ownership divest itself of the 49ers and sell to a party more interested in the performance of the team, as well as the well being of its players.
