We, the undersigned, do hereby give notice of our opposition to the market broadcast rules currently stipulated by the National Football League (NFL) which, in designating Central Pennsylvania a Baltimore market for the purposes of televising NFL games, requires Harrisburg, PA CBS affiliate WHP-TV (CBS Channel 21) to broadcast Baltimore Ravens away games at the expense of those games being played by the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom WHP-TV has traditionally chosen to air, due to the overwhelming fanbase of the latter team in the Central Pennsylvania region. The recent enforcement by the NFL of said market broadcast rules resulted in the airing of the Baltimore-Cleveland game on September 12, 2004, and not the Pittsburgh-Oakland game; against the wishes of both area football fans and the Sports Programming Department of WHP-TV. This decision by the NFL violates geographical, historical and common sense; as such we hereby request that the NFL grant CBS Channel 21 a broadcast waiver, so that WHP-TV and Steelers fans throughout Central Pennsylvania might again be given the opportunity to broadcast, view and support the Steelers, without exception.
