This tragic problem concerns pet shops and puppy mills. In Pet Shops, the kittens or puppies lie on the bottom of their small, uncomfortable, metal crates day and night with nothing to do and their only contact being through glass, sometimes for months and months.
How would you feel?
Puppies and kittens need to romp and play. A puppy that should be full of energy and liveliness instead lies there with a look of such sadness and despair.
Puppy Mills are even worse. There are 5,000 of these large scale commercial dog breeding facilities in the U.S. According to Rachel A. Lamb, who has visited and researched many puppy mills, rows of dilapidated cages line up outside a barn. Dogs are crammed three or more to a small cage which are elevated over mounds of feces. Here's what they often experience:
matted fur covers their eyes
sickness
disorientation
underweight
dehydration
inadequate exercise
Female dogs become breeding machines. The females cannot maintain their productivity past four or five years; after that they are often shot or clubbed to death.
These dogs live in their own wastes, shiver in the cold, or bake in the heat. These dogs are there for one purpose: to make money. Many times pet shops get their puppies from puppy mills. By buying a puppy at a pet shop, the consumer is unknowingly supporting a cycle of abuse that begins at the puppy mill!

anyone who has ever owned a dog, knows that they become part of your family. The thought that all this horror is going on in these puppy mills horrifies me. Please, please stop doing this to these wonderful, loving, loyal and precious puppies.

The biggest abusers of animals are these so called breeders who have the puppymills. They should be illegal and the owners face severe and heavy concequences for causing this suffering just to make money.
