Americans: Rise up! On Nov. 7 2000, a great crime was committed. As all of us now know, the debate over the Florida election results flared up and for weeks, votes, dimples, and pregnant chads were in constant scrutiny. America was put in a position that was not needed. What caused such uncertainty over one state when forty-nine others did not seem to pose any kind of problem. It is clear to see what caused the mess. The big news giants: CBS, ABC, NBC and others called Florida early on in the evening. The problem was that Florida sits on two different time zones. When the news called Florida early on, the poles in Florida's pan handle were still open. When voters there, standing in line, heard that the election was 'over', thousands of voters left the lines and returned home. This caused both candidates to lose thousands of potential votes that would have made it so that there would have been no discussions over voter intent afterwards. Please sign the following petition to request that the news' election coverage is not quick and presumptious as it was on November 7, and that discretion is used when calling the office of Presidency, the most powerful position on the earth. No true American, whether Democrat or Republican, wants to sit in dark for weeks on end as was the case after the election. Thank you...

6. Lorraine Kozlowski | The election results should not be announced anywhere until all the voting in all the states has been completed. That is the only way to ensure a fair vote next time.

1. Clare Padfield | To be honest, I believe the whole election was a mess and Gore may indeed not be the true elected president of the United States. It's too late to do anything about it now, but let's make sure there is never such a shambles again in any country, let alone
