Stop the Kosi Menace!

The citizens of India have a name for the river Kosi. It is "Sorrow of Bihar". Year after year, the river brings devastation, loss of human life and loss of property.

Can India truly claim that it is progressing and prospering well into the modern times, when the river Kosi bleeds already depleted Indian resources and breaks the human spirit time and time again?

Our scientists and technologists have harnessed the power of the nature to benefit the mankind. What would it take them to address this menace?

We have recently seen a near-miracle in India where the Indian Railways started showing profits - we all know that the Honorable Railway Minister is at the helm of that turnaround. Our kudos to that effort .. could we expect the same miracle for his home-state?

It is high time we stopped this recurring menace! An ounce of prevention is always better than a pound of cure. We need to tame the river Kosi - build embankments, damns, control its path and passage and solve this problem once and for all. Let this be another lasting legacy of yours, Honorable Minister!
