Stop the Waste Site at Waterbarn

Background:

Lancashire County Council as part of its Waste Strategy is currently investigating the posibility of developing the Waterbarn Mill site in Stacksteads into a waste transfer station. All the waste from green and blue bins in Rossendale will be taken to this site and it will be used to bulk up waste for transport to disposal sites. Currently LCC has bid for the site and their bid has been accepted.

At last weeks December Lancashire Local meeting it was agreed that the planning application would be put on hold.

As a member of the community living in Bacup and Stacksteads I understand the need for recycling and better waste management however I strongly believe the proposed site at Waterbarn Mill in Stacksteads is not suitable and does not meet the needs of LCC. I therefore wish to register my opposition by signing this petition.
