We the undersigned are extremely concerned at the proposed 'development' of the forest of the Democratic Republic of Congo. We believe this will have major repercussions for the rights and livelihoods of millions of Congolese people, with serious and irreversible consequences for the forest environment. We call on the World Bank to immediately halt plans for the expansion of industrial logging in the Democratic Republic of Congo. We call upon you instead to support the strengthening of the rights of people living in the forest, and to ensure that strict safeguards are put in place to protect the forest and environment
