Strickter Gun Control for Safer Neighborhoods

Gun violence and gun control has been and will always be a problem in the United States and all around the world. There are over 1.7 million reported guns all over the United States, but the amount of unreported illegal guns is far greater. We need to address the problem and take the proper actions and measures to stop the sale of illegal guns and to make sure that the legal ones are not just sold to anyone. Your article in the Newsweek Magazine published on April 30, 2007, states that the coalition called, "Mayors Against Illegal Guns," is working to "find creative ways to rid our streets of illegal guns." We back you up completely and have noticed that there are more officers patroling the streets and that murders have been cut 40 percent compared with six years ago. But we still feel that people found with illegal guns need to be prosecuted. Atleast three years jail time to anyone found with illegal guns, and demand strickter gun purchasing laws. The purpose of this petition is to ensure that people caught with illegal guns get prosecuted properly for their crime. Signing this petition will be one step closer to a Safer New York.
