Support For Insook Kang

To Whom It May Concern:

We are approaching you with the interest of retaining Insook Kang for one more year as a Korean Teacher at the University of Pennsylvania. We believe that, because of her dedication to this University and her students, you should accept her request for a year of leeway.
As you will see from the signatures on this petition, Professor Kangs instruction has had reverberations that not only transcend spatial parameters, as shown by non-University affiliated students as members of the undersigned, but also temporally as shown by alums supporting her. Professor Kang does not merely teach the Korean language, she helps augment the cultural milieu that defines this University having students from all over the globe take her class. From an academic standpoint, she takes one of the most difficult languages in the world and simplifies it through innovative classroom techniques such as the utilization of online networks (such as Second Life) to connect with native Korean speakers. She genuinely cares about her students and actively makes sure than each and every one of them receives proper instruction in and out of the classroom. It is for this reason that students stick with her instruction throughout the Korean language curriculum offered by the University.
Given that Professor Kang has given so much to the University, as a metaphysical construct and on an individual basis, and the short time she has to find a new job, we implore you to allow her to be retained for another yearproviding her with ample time to find the best teaching options out there for her. After all that she has done, it is only reasonable that this is the route taken.
