This is a petition calling on all people from all sections of the media in Ireland,to demand that RTE (Ireland's semi state broadcasting company) delivers a youth service on its station named "2Fm" , as per it's public service remit. It currenly provides other mediums of radio for other target audiences , like Radio 1 and Lyric Fm , but has consistently failed for over a decade or more to provide a truely well produced youth product for people in the Island of ireland who are or are below the age of 34. This has been the case for a long period even though the station recieves revenue from both commercial advertising and the licence paying public.
The time has come to demand value for money and no longer put up with the half-hearted mis jointed form of radio that uses the call sign , 2Fm.
This petition will be forwarded to HELEN SHAW , Head of Radio in RTE demanding that radical changes happen in 2fm. We demand that they endevour to deliver youth focussed programming presented by young talented presenters and not to continue in the same OLD TRYING TO BE YOUNG VAIN. We demand young presenters and staff producing a wide range of diverse music programmes and also a youth focused Talk show for young people in Ireland to have a say on what affects them. Please sign this petition and demand a TRUE YOUTH SERVICE. IT is mine and your entitlement as we pay our taxes for it. Please spread the word , tell all your friends and colleuges about this petition and urge them to go on-line and sign it.
