A Wake Up Call to Government of India before it is too late to save Bapu Kuti at Sewagram

If the reportage of Times of India, under the heading: Steel Plant at Wardha may spell doom for Bapu Kuti (as also posted at http://khadi4u.tripod.com), is to be believed, the situation is not only grim but also seriously alarming too. That the very glory of the pristine heritage portraying the sanctity of the Father of the Nation, itself is at the verge of being pushed on to the slippery slope leading to the valley of extinction or at least being defaced by the black soot, that is being belched out of the chimneys of Uttam Galva Metalics Limited (UGML), breaking and circumventing all the rules of protections of a National Monument, namely Bapu Kuti at Sewagram Ashram, where Gandhiji spent seven years to plan the Quit India Movement and also gave directions to the Independent Movement particularly from here.

Certainly this brazen act can never be carried out without the clandestine approval of not only the immediate authorities, but also of those, who are the ultimate ones, who day in and day out do not relent in making high promises of espousing the very cause of that Great Soul, who had said, Nature has enough for everybodys need, but for anybodys greed. On the one hand we clamor and make hue and cry by asking other countries to return our historical artifacts, but what about our own callous attitude of serious negligence in preserving our own most sacred historical monument, which happens to be the very hub of Freedom Struggle, Bapu Kuti and the Sewagram Ashram.

Is it not more harangues than the destruction of Bamian Statues of Budhha?
Is it not akin to make another killing of Gandhi at the altar of the Greed of a Few?
Is it not a matter of great shame?
Is it not high time that Government of India wake up from its slumber before it is too late?
Has the Congress Party forgotten its own avowed pledge?
