Add mountain biking to the La Honda Creek Open Space Master Plan!

We find it unfortunate that Open Space has made the decision to forbid mountain biking on the La Honda Creek Preserve.
Open Space was presented with a petition signed by 200 residents of La Honda expressing their wish to have mountain biking included in the La Honda Creek Open Space preserve, which apparently went unnoticed.
The local's are the ones that will have to deal with the increase in traffic and the additional horse trailers going up and down highway 84, yet those same locals that signed the petition will be unable to use the preserve for our chosen form of recreation.
When you exclude mountain biking in the preserve you are excluding the middle class. Although it costs a few hundred dollars to buy a bicycle, it costs tens of thousands of dollars a year to board and maintain a horse. With your decision you are, in essence, excluding the middle class from their choice of recreation and favoring the wealthiest minority that have tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in disposable income to spend on horses. This is in opposition to what open space was designed to do.
There are approximately 9000 acres of parkland that border the hamlet of La Honda all of which are closed to Mountain Bikes, if this plan goes through, you will be increasing that acreage to approximately 15,000, none of it accessible to mountain biking.
We urge you and the board to reconsider.
