"Age of Rifles" Source Code

We, the international Age of Rifles computer wargaming community, along with all those who support our cause, direct this petition to Mr. Norm Koger - creator of the computer simulation SSIs Wargame Construction Set #3: The Age of Rifles. We are requesting that Mr. Koger release the source code for this game into the public domain, thereby making it freely available for non-commercial use. Wargame Construction Set #3: The Age of Rifles. is no longer available for purchase. It is no longer supported by SSI (which doesn't exist anymore), by Ubi Soft (who took over SSI) or by any other computer software company. In making this proposal, we (the undersigned) intend that this source code not be used for any personal or private commercial or economic gain.
Many people around the world continue to play and enjoy this game. We (the undersigned) would like to see it upgraded for use far into the future. There are things that we would like to change in this game. We particularly wish to port the game to more recent operating systems such as NT-based Windows and remove the no sound problem in systems with multiple CD-ROM drives. Many great classic (read, older) games have been released into the public domain, allowing other gamers to continue to play, enjoy and modify these games over the years.
We are a large, active and growing gaming community. The game currently supports almost seven hundred (700) scenarios, many created by users, and this number continues to increase. All we ask from Mr. Koger is an acknowledgement of our efforts and a straightforward and definitive Yes or No regarding the release of the source code.
