Dear Fellow Travelers,
Earlier this year Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. and Caesars Entertainment, Inc. merged to creat a multi-billion dollar hotel casino company. The company now has control of over 40 casinos in 3 countries. In las vegas alone they oversee "Paris", "Bally's, Flamingo, Caesars Palace, Harrahs, and Rio.
Now the MGM,Mirage,Luxor,Monte Carlo,and Bellagio all fall under MGM management. With 2 companies owning over half of the MEGA hotels on the strip many of the ideologies that come from Corperate HQ are making an impact down on the street level.
In as little as 3 years the only hotels on "The Strip" that have allowed ADULTS 18 years of age and older to reserve and check into a hotel are Luxor, Paris, Flamingo,MGM,Ballys, and The Mirage. As of April of 06 Flamingo, Bally's, Paris, and The mirage have switched over to only allow those 21 years of AGE and older to reserve and check into a hotel room.
This leaves the 18-20 year old crowd one of three options. MGM, LUXOR, or to stay out of vegas. As a avid traveler my absolute favorite destination has been time and time again Las Vegas, Nevada.
My personal hotel of choice has been the Flamingo, they offer an awsome location with prices that cannot be beat, I have stayed there mkany times with out breaking any gambling or drinking laws, I think it's wrong to assume that thats what will happen.
I am creating this petition to hopefully shows thoughs at Harrah's Ent. that there is a demand for hotels that accomadate adults 18+ and that these mergers of mega corperations are putting a damper on the fun spirit that Vegas was founded on.
I am afraid soon one company will have control over the entire strip forming a monopoly with no where for the younger crowd to reside, vegas have tried to revamp it's image over the years from " Sin City" to a more friendly family fun place. So please keep vegas alive for all of us and sign this petition
