Bring Back Wishbone, PBS!

If you're like me at all, then you got your first taste of Faust, Silas Marner, the Odyssey, and the Illiad from "Wishbone." The '90s children series, arguably PBS's most successful and original show, won 4 Emmys during its run. For the first time, classic literature was kid-friendly and fun. All because of a Jack Russell terrier named Wishbone. Unfortunately, in 1998 (shortly after the release of Wishbone's first feature-length film, "Dog Days of the West"), "Wishbone" was cancelled. Now, the only place you can find old "Wishbone" episodes is via www.amazon.com or some other site that sells the now-rare VHS tapes.
"Wishbone" is a PBS classic that deserves shelf space with other public television shows like "Sesame Street" and "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood."
While PBS has allowed a new generation of children viewers to discover the quiet beauty of "Mr. Rogers," they have not introduced that generation to great classic literature through "Wishbone."
We would like for PBS to make "Wishbone" reruns a part of their regular show schedule, allowing the kids of today to discover the classics, as we had the great opportunity to.
