Call for United States endorsement of UN Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples
Sign Now
The United States is the only remaining country yet to sign the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The Declaration strengthens what is already in U.S. law but also goes much further in recommending that States adopt several ideologies hat would ensure that Indigenous Peoples can exercise their right to free, prior, and informed consent before governments approve projects. This projects include, but are not limited to, hydroelectric dams, mines, logging, or military activity on their lands.
The Declaration also affords Indigenous Peoples the right to teach their languages to their children, and to manifest, practice, and develop, and teach their spiritual and religious traditions to their children.
We believe that it is time the United States endorses the Declaration and begin the healing process of past injustices against Native Americans.
