City of Hamilton: Proposed Rental Licensing By-Law To the City of Hamilton, Mayor & Councilors: We the undersigned are against this proposed By-Law to license Rental Units in the City of Hamilton. • The City of Hamilton is proposing to License all 1-6 Unit properties: The City does not know how many "illegally zoned" units there are or how many people will be affected. • Your home may be at risk! Zoning changes are costly and there's no guarantee the landlord will be successful: Minor Variances and ReZoning applications have not been successful over the past year. • This By-Law is a direct result of issues surrounding Student Housing around McMaster and Mohawk & will not help to increase the supply of affordable housing in the City, but rather will decrease your choices and may lead to evictions. • This By-Law, if enacted, may violate the Human Rights Act based on People Zoning or the inability to live in the neighborhood of your choice.
