Braintree District Council have refused planning permission to keep a caravan on privately owned land and will implementing action to have it removed if a strong appeal isnt brought forward.
The request made by the applicant is not permission to reside permanently on their land but it is asked for the caravan to be kept for leisure purposes. The caravan in question has been held on this land for a number years without issue and every effort has been made to camouflage it with its natural surroundings.
The location of this land is in the remote Essex countryside and the caravans presence causes absolutely no disturbance. The Council argue that this particular location is a "flood zone" however, action has been taken by the applicant to ensure that the caravan would not have an impact on the surrounding area if such an occurrence was to happen i.e. caravan has been raised to a height of 2.5 ft and has been amply secured.
If the application is denied and the applicant is forced to remove the caravan, they will also be forced to remove their live-stock (chickens, ducks) as without shelter during the winter months, they will not be able to spend sufficient time on the land to protect and care for their animals.
It is also the Councils argument that the caravan be removed in the interest of "countryside protection". However it needs to be understood that the land was purchased by the applicants for this very reason - they have no wish to harm the countryside. They ask for the caravan to be approved so that they can preserve, maintain and enjoy the surrounding natural environment.

The application denial is an outrage...it is privately owned land that is well maintained an kept environment friendly by its owners...they are keen animal lovers tht keep the best interests of nature first....its a beautiful piece of countryside that the

I have seen the caravan and in no way is it doing any harm where it is, it seems there could be some jealousy somewhere for a petty reason such as was given to deny planning

It seems absurd that two people who probably love and care for nature more than most are being 'shifted' to protect it? Unnecessary, ridiculous and unfair.
