Derren Brown has been described as a magician, a mentalist, and a psychological illusionist. His shows often blend magic, suggestion, psychology, misdirection and showmanship to create astounding feats of human manipulation. His series and specials on Channel 4 have shocked and amazed the nation for over ten years, and four record-breaking tours have allowed him to demonstrate these talents on the live stage in theatres up and down the country. Along the way, Derren and his team have gained widespread recognition for their work in the form of Olivier Awards, a Silver DOr for Variety and BAFTAs. Derren is also a successful author and painter, having produced four books and a significant body of artwork alongside his television and tour commitments.
Derren is not only one of the most talented men on television, but he is now undeniably a national treasure.
For this reason, we, The Undersigned, believe Derren deserves a place amongst the stars of music, television and film in Merlin Entertainments famous waxwork attraction Madame Tussauds. This waxwork would be a fitting tribute to a man whose own interest in facsimile and similitude was enough to use Madame Tussauds in London itself for an episode of his 2008 series Trick or Treat. We are sure his waxwork would attract thousands of new visitors, and it would be exciting to see how the waxwork could be integrated with Derrens magical, mysterious and mischevious persona. We are certain that Derren would be delighted to receive this honour and would surely wish to see it himself.
On behalf of all Derren Brown fans, this is a petition to Merlin Entertainment and Madame Tussauds requesting that they install a waxwork of Derren Brown in either their London venue or their new Blackpool venue opening in 2011.
