1) The application (from here on, referred to as Facebook) is failing to allow members to use it in a reasonably working state. There are a plethora of apparent problems with Facebook's ability to accommodate users and their experience with Facebook. What seems to be connectivity related problems (and the likes) results in a number of error messages a user receives when Facebook fails. The user is NOT given an adequate explanation for the failure of the system. In many cases, the error suggests the user either try the attempted action later or come back in a few days.
2) The frequency of these errors is such that it has become the source of sarcastic humor among members. This is unacceptable and unfair to the millions of members, spanning the globe. Facebook, who earns revenue from advertising, is reliant on their users to observe and potentially make use of the supplied advertising. With a system that fails nearly as much as it succeeds, cannot rest easy with the advertisers who are paying for their ads to appear in a visible section of "prime on screen real estate".
3) Developers are allowed to add their self designed applications to work with Facebook. It would appear that there is (if any) little quality control to determine the application's ability to function within the Facebook framework. A great deal of the mentioned failure is encountered while using these applications. The generic disclaimer that is shown prior to adding a chosen application is inadequate. Whether or not the application was designed, commissioned or sanctioned by Facebook is irrelevant. If the application is allowed to exist within Facebook, Facebook holds a responsibility to ensure that connectivity to these applications is adequate. Users are far too often forced to attempt to re access an application by various means such as: refreshing the page, closing the browser completely and having to log in all over again, attempt to switch to another application, etc..
4) As mentioned, connectivity is suspect. To elaborate, based on a good working knowledge of computers, networks and servers, the author of this petition suggests that perhaps Facebook is grossly under powered in reference to server capacity and performance. This would also suggest that it is possible an insufficient number of servers exist either owned by Facebook or leased. With the constantly growing number of Facebook members, the ability to accommodate a maximum number of users is necessary. However, this is obviously not the case with Facebook's current abilities.
In summary; The current members of your Facebook application are deeply dissatisfied with the quality of service you currently offer. Facebook has become more of a nuisance with it's consistent errors and failure to perform. Our concern(s) regarding the quality of and the maintenance of applications added by developers (accredited unknown) is well founded. Your lack of responsibility and oversight of these application's ability to perform on your network is perceived as "passing the buck" or "turning a blind eye". Yes, you are providing the platform for these to exist and execute, but you are forgetting that these applications are a direct reflection on you and your service(s). No one is concerned who created the application, all we know and care about is that it exists on Facebook.
If you wish to maintain members, it is strenuously advised that you take a more proactive role in governing what exactly is going on on your network. If you chose to ignore this notice from your valued members, there are other avenues we can pursue. A hypothetical scenario might suggest that our complaints be forwarded to your advertisers. The potential result needs to be elaborated, not.
