We believe in freedom of speech as a basic human right. The ability to discuss issues without prejudice is a right that we, as TV licence paying citizens of the United Kingdom feel the bbc should uphold.
We believe in particular, that the moderation of the BBC Radio 4 Today forums are over zealous and not compatible with intelligent political discussion. Anything seen as remotely politcally incorrect, inflammatory or contraversial is removed. Also posts are removed for vague reasons if a reason is recieved at all.
The undersigned agree that moderation is necessary in such a popular forum where such wide varying opinion is discussed. Swearing is unacceptable as is personal abuse. Therefore we believe that a set of rules needs to be applied which the moderators should stick to rather than basing their moderation on what we percieve as personal opinion. Under no circumstances should a post be removed 'even thought you post doesn't break the house rules, we decided to remove it anyway.'
The reconsideration of moderation rules will greatly improve the discourse in the forum and will be of benefit to the users and the BBC alike. As not only your customers, but also your owners, we hope the bbc takes this petition into consideration and acts accordingly.

They need to leave the forums open at night too. We don't all get to go online when we fancy it... The BBC covers everything up. It's about time the licence was scrapped. Because we're paying for bollix all!

Mindless, inconsistent, biased, and rude. I could go on. The Today "moderators" make what could be the best messageboard extant into, for example, a pulpit for Nicky Wilson and his gormless twittering and repetitive fictional abuse, and little else.

I resent the inconsistencies, and the sex bias. Far more rude and offensive language is tolerated from the male contributers. Also when someone is attached the mods do not remove the original offending post, do not a defend the offendedc and do not allow

agree, although not sure what BBCi is, but the BBC doesn't have enough freedom of speech, some of them forget that the public (i.e. the people paying the license fee) do have opinions, even if we are female
