Georgians Against "Confederate Heritage Month"

We the residents of the state of Georgia do hereby declare that any so-called "Confedate Heritage Month" is an idea which should immediately be repealed. As a southern state, many southerners have faced the stereotype of the "redneck," which is a derogatory term which is offensive and insulting. Many southerners have faced the stereotype which states that many Southerners are still not over the Civil War. To disregard these stereotypes and false ideas, measures must be taken in order to dispel these rumors of a sort. To allow April to be the Confederate Heritage Month would only enforce these rumors and allow people to believe that we really are the "hicks" that they think we are.
In addition, the glorification of a system which was arrogant and disrespectful, and also glorified slavery, should not and will not be tolerated. Slavery was an event in our history which should embarrass many. And although not everyone was involved in slavery or was even prejudiced in any way, the Civil War remains an embarrassing fact to the South. We simply cannot celebrate a period that ruined so many people's lives (white and black), enslaved an entire race, and split an entire country in two.
