In the name of Cozumel Island, We the Undersigned hereby PETITION the Center for Disease Control & Prevention to update its Travel Alert for Mexico written in the last days of April 2009, to specifically identify the areas in Mexico where there are greater and lesser risks, and where there are none, as this general alert is unfairly and seriously affecting tourist areas where there are no cases, nor any threat from the H1N1 Influenza A. In accordance to the recommendations against travel restrictions by the World Health Organization, and in view of the fact that there are US cities with more cases than Cozumel Island, but have no travel alerts. We believe that the current and vague recommendation to avoid non-essential travel to Mexico by which you label a country of over 100 million people and 761,606 square miles as ONE destination is incorrect, incomplete and unfair, and we implore you to be socially conscious and globally responsible and adjust your travel warnings accordingly.
