I support a cosmetic pesticide ban in Manitoba

 Dear Honourable Gord Macintosh,

I support a cosmetic pesticide ban in Manitoba. My support strengthens the voice of the 71% of Manitoba residents recently polled who support a law that would phase-out the use and sale of lawn and garden pesticides across the province (Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment, 2013; Winnipeg Free Press, 2013). I agree with the Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development (2007) who recommended that the province establish a full ban on the sale and use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes. 

Research confirms that cosmetic pesticides threaten our most vulnerable citizens: children, pregnant mothers, the elderly, people with compromised immune systems and sensitivities, as well as pets and our environment. I ask that the Manitoba Government continue to lead with action to protect residents and our environment by instating a cosmetic pesticide ban.
