In support of the Radiologic Technology Certification Committees (RTCC) decision to continue the exclusion of X-Ray Technicians (XTS) from using digital (CR/DR) equipment in California

We, (the undersigned) agree with the recommendations of the Radiologic Technology Certification Committee (RTCC) subcommittee -which was composed of representatives from all communities of interest; X-Ray Technicians (XTs), X-Ray Technician (XT) Educators, Radiation physicists, Certified Radiologic Technologists (CRTs), Radiologists and other non-radiologist physicians and licentiates - all of whom recommended to:

1) Maintain the requirement that excludes limited permit X-ray technicians authorization to perform digital radiography.

2) Require, within two years of implementation, registrants to document that digital radiographic equipment operators, (CRT's) have successfully completed a minimum of 15 hours of initial education in the subject of digital (CR/DR) radiography.

3) Require, within two years of implementation that the mandatory continuing education for radiologic technologists (CRTs) include topics specific to digital radiography.

This petition is a summary of the recommendations that were distributed to the public and approved by RTCC at the February 2005 meeting of RTCC in Sacramento, CA.
