Banaz Mahmoud Bakabir Agha, a 20 year old woman of Kurdish origin wasbrutally murdered on 23 January 2006 in a presumed 'honour' killing;policebelieve she was murdered by her own family after wishing to remarryafterending her forced marriage by divorce. Her body was found in a suitcaseinApril. Banaz had contacted London Metropolitan Police many times toexpressher fear of murder, but was sent back into the arms of the family thattheysuspect murdered her. If different action had been taken by police,Banazwould be alive today. We, supporters of the International CampaignAgainstHonour Killings, urge that police treat all complaints relating to'honour'crime with the seriousness they deserve. It is too late for Banaz, andthemany other victims of honour killing in Britain: it is not too late tosavelives.
