Who is Bernard Bailey? A mild mannered, a 54 year old family oriented and hardworking man. A pillar of his hometown, Eutawville, South Carolina community where he lived and raised his family. A man described by family and friends as someone who would give you the shirt off his back. A man who was unmercifully shot multiple times by the Chief of Police, ?, in the chest and shoulder as he was returning to his truck. Why? Because of a disagreement with the Chief of Police, ???, over a ticket that Mr. Baileys daughter had received. Apparently, as Mr. Bailey was leaving the precinct (according to witnesses) the Chief of Police walked out behind him and physically tried to restrain him as he was getting into his truck. The police officer pulled his weapon and fired upon the unarmed Mr. Bailey, killing him. Ironically, the Chief of Police, ???, received medical attention for some unknown minor injury; while Mr. Baileys bullet ridden body remained in his truck for hours without proper treatment.
This horrific misuse of power should be punishable to the full extent of the law. When are we going to stand up for injustice no matter who the perpetrator? How can someone who is suppose to uphold the law, break the law? How can we allow anyone to take the innocent life of Mr. Bernard Bailey without comment or action. This was a senseless shooting by someone with no respect for life and law.
In support of Mr. Bernard Baileys family, we demand a full state and federal investigation. We cannot sit idly by and know the suffering of this family without making our voices heard. Please take the time to sign the petition below to show that our constitutional and legal system works for ALL!
