LeakyMug Australia 2008

The reason for this petition's existence is a result of the total frustration that all Australian Harry Potter fans feel with the lack of Harry Potter-related events being held in our country. Because of the expense of flying to the locations where HP events are held much more regularly (such as the US), it becomes nearly impossible for many of us to attend. We become in a way, isolated from the rest of the Harry Potter Community; unable to participate in the wonderful events which are much more easily available to those living "closer to the action" of the Potterverse.

This is why we propose that a LeakyMug be held in Australia; because an event such as a LeakyMug, a chance to be entertained by and meet some of the wonderful people who bring us TLC & Mugglenet, would be an event which would draw Potter fans from all around Australia (and even perhaps close neighbouring countries). A LeakyMug would be an ideal way to unite the Potter fans of Australia.

We hope that by having great numbers of signatures supporting this petition, we will be able to convince the LeakyMuggers (www.leakymug.com) to hold a LeakyMug here in Australia. This petition is not just for Australians to sign; anyone who supports the idea of an Australian LeakyMug is eligible to do so as well. We greatly appreciate your support on this issue.
