National Holiday for Steve Irwin

"Since I was a boy, from this house, I was out rescuing crocodiles and snakes. My mum and dad were very passionate about that and, I was lucky enough to go along."
Steve Irwin was born on February 22, 1962. Steve grew up around crocodiles and other reptiles ever since his parents had moved to Queensland in 1970, where his parents started the Queensland Reptile and Fauna park. He would help around and participate in many acitivities, such as daily feedings, care, and other maintenance activities. Little did anyone know, that the Steve would turn into one of the most influential Wildlife Experts this world has ever seen.
Steve was an Australian naturist, wildlife expert and television host of the show "The Crocodile Hunter". Millions of fans all over the world tuned in everyday to watch his next adventure, going through what seemed like life-risking stunts just to show the audience what these animals are. And yet no one thought that the Croc Hunter could die, no one. It was thought that he was invincible.
-In 2001 he was awarded the Centenary Medal for his "service to global conservation and to Australian tourism".
-In 2004 he was recognized as the Tourism Export of the Year.
He was also nominated for Australian of the Year.
But the biggest accomplishment he had made was the accomplishment of touching every viewers hearts and minds. We became friends through Steve through the television set, taking his quotes and using them as one-liners, such as the infamous "crikey!" or "have a go at this one!".
"I've probably saved thousands of peoples' lives with my educational message on snake bites, how to get in around venomous anything. "

And yet, with all this came a fateful day on September 4, 2006. Irwin was fatally pierced by a stingray barb in the chest, while diving off Queensland's Great Barrier Reef. This great man, a father of two kids, has taught the world a great deal about crocodiles and reptiles. He has shown us a new light to animals, and has saved many lives with his educational videos. But his spirit lives on, the Croc Hunter is immortal.
This petition is for a national holiday, in honor of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, to celebrate and honor Steve's life.
