This petition is in response to the Canadian Federal Governments search for nuclear waste dumping sites in Canada's Arctic, for which the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami is conducting a study to see how Inuit feel about nuclear waste going to the North.
Canadas already fragile Arctic ecosystem is suffering many destructive changes such as: the melting of ice caps due to global warming, pollution from persistent organic pollutants, and waste caused by the mining industry. Adding nuclear waste will only cause additional environmental damage and will not significantly mitigate the economic challenges facing Nunavut.
We hereby submit this petition to show our opposition to the dumping of Nuclear Waste in Canada's Arctic.
