No More Dr. Gibson as Superintendent

On December 11, 2007, Elmbrook Schools Superintendent Doctor Matt Gibson kept the schools open, despite threats of heavy snowfall and icy streets, and Elmbrook was one of the few districts to remain active in South-eastern Wisconsin.

The winter before, Dr. Gibson also made school attendance required even after the weather reached sub-zero temperatures; again, after the large majority of other schools had been closed. The next day, when the temperatures were significantly higher, Dr. Gibson called off school. This act shows his inability to stand up to peer pressure and keep by his decisions.

These choices to keep school attendance mandatory on days when the weather proved dangerous, combined with his lack of backbone is holding true to those choices, show Dr. Matt Gibson to be less than fit for superintendent of Elmbrook School District. Dr. Gibson should either step down as superintendent, or promise changes to his policies for school closings.

Note that this petition does not reflect Dr. Gibson's other choices or plans for the district, nor his personality. It is simply stating that he was wrong in his choices of when or when not to close his schools.
