Personal Proberty Tax in Arkansas Unfair to All Disabled Persons

The "Personal Property Tax" in Arkansas; is tax that is paid yearly for owning a vehicle in this state. It is paid every year for as long as you own a vehicle, it doesn't matter if you just bought the vehicle and are making monthly payments to pay it off or if you paid cash and owe no payments, you must still pay this tax as long as you own the vehicle. You must pay this tax for as many years that you have your vehicle and if you buy another vehicle because that one had to be scrapped - you must pay the tax on your next vehicle new or used. Persons that own more than one (1) vehicle are paying taxes on both vehicles.

This tax is very "unfair" especially for people who are living on limited income and have only one (1) vehicle. Most of these people are probably getting government assistance in the form of food stamps, medicaid, etc., but they still must pay this tax. We can barely pay our utility bills, rent and buy food, but we still have to pay this tax because we need a vehicle. The only persons getting a tax break on this are the Disabled Veterans. Should they be the only ones getting this tax break?

We feel that All Disabled Persons should get the same tax break. It's bad enough that persons on Social Security are not getting the $250 stimulus and No Increases For Two Years in Social Security Payments, which makes struggling to survive even harder and prices will continue to increase for food, utilities, gasoline, etc.
