OUR BEAUTIFUL CITY OF PERTH?
Please take the time to read this petition. I truly believe we are able to make a difference if we can make enough noise for our voice to be heard. How many of you have helped a homeless person, or even care enough about others to want to make a difference?
Does anyone else in our wonderful state lie awake at night without the smugness of believing we have what we have because we have earnt it? What about those who take cold comfort on a park bench or doorway with nothing for comfort but memories (good or bad) and a few scraps from our discards? Trading our lives for theirs is as simple as one mistake. How can our government promote our beautiful city and continue to build incredibly expensive monoliths which resemble soft-drink bottles and tin cockroaches and gloat in their achievements with a bit of back-slapping and champagne sipping? How can they lie in their beds at night believing they are doing a great job when all it takes is a five minute walk through our beautiful city, with our noses out of the windows and our hands off our credit-cards look at the real people walking past. How good does it make you to give that poor wretch a few dollars; how comforting is that going to be to them tonight?
This petition is for Perth, WA, but for those who have done their homework, every country on the face of this planet is capable of solving the homeless problem our richer countries are capable of not only helping ourselves, but the poorer nations. Donating to charity only does so much it is about time that our governing bodies took responsibility for their own citizens about time that they put an end to supporting only the wealthy and failing so many to the point they can turn a blind eye to suicide and death in the streets. Just because we are able to ignore it when it isnt in our faces, and just because we can sit and point the blame at the sufferers, doesnt make it go away and doesnt mean it cant happen to us. Kids are selling their bodies on the streets to these same people who look down on the homeless. If we take a stand and present our disgust at those who are able to solve these problems, maybe something will be done.
I would also like to ask that you pray - for the homeless, and for those in power to make the right decisions and for this petition to make a difference.
How can our tourism commission and media continue to make revenue from advertising or just ignoring the situation - our screens should be bombarded with the facts everyday - our government should be lobbied publicly so they are forced to make a change.
This petition will be forwarded to our state government heads at the end of this financial year - to coincide with the annual money-grab by so many. Please save this if you don't want to sign now - think about it for a while - have a look at the homeless situation and then make your choice.

Too many people who need one to one mentoring and assistance slip through the system. The system needs to put in place procedures that stop generations from continually receiving the dole and shown how to survive.
