To: Elected Officials of the City of Petal
We, the citizens of Petal, are opposed to the Board of Aldermen of The City of Petal voting on whether or not to pass a smoking ban in the City of Petal for the following reasons:
1. The issue is controversial.
2. We believe that the issue is best decided by public vote by the citizens and residents of the City of Petal.
3. Deciding this issue by vote would enhance public confidence in the elected officials of the City of Petal as it would promote the democratic process of decision making.
We, the undersigned, demand that a no smoking ban be put to public vote or in the alternative, that the Board does not vote to adopt this ordinance.
